Considering how many Sparteye saw last year, maybe I should change this to the 100-Movie Challenge, eh?

The 50-Movie Challenge

The Second 50-Movie Challenge

The Third 50-Movie Challenge

The Fourth 50-Movie Challenge

================================================

See how many movies you can watch in a one-year period!

Movies of all stripes count, of course. Documentaries, cartoons, propaganda, and anything else is acceptable. What's not acceptable are movies that are under 70 minutes long. This is so people don't load up with 30-minute Three Stooges shorts.

Doesn't matter if you see the movie in the theater or at home, on DVD or on VHS or even on (God forbid) laser disc. (Or Divx, or VCD, or...)

Doesn't matter if you've already seen the movie, as long as you see it during your allotted one-year period.

The time period begins with your first movie. If you post about a movie here on, say, January 31, 2007, then you have until the end of January 30, 2008 to see 49 more movies.

So whaddya gotta do?

1. Watch a movie.
2. Visit this thread. The one you're in now. The one you're reading right now. No, not that one. The other one.
3. Enter a brief synopsis/review of the movie. Tell us what it's basically about and what you thought of it. Use any rating system you wish, but please make it clear to the rest of us what scale you're using. Oh, and note what number movie you're talking about; e.g., your first movie will be #1, and so on.

You can, of course, comment on the reviews of others. Let's keep it civil, though.

Brevity is encouraged; that is, don't feel you need to post hundreds and hundreds of words. On the other hand, don't feel you're restricted to short reviews/synopses, either.

Also, if you must post a spoiler, please type something like SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS RUN RUN RUN HERE THEY COME AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and then many, many line spaces, and then your spoiler.

Now, for those of you who are already in this, please feel free to post your reviews/entries either here, or where you were posting them before, or both. It doesn't matter. This is all for fun.

1. Clockwise (1986, ***): Good John Cleese comedy about a punctual headmaster who's late for a headmasters' conference.

2. Terminator: Salvation (2009, ***):  Intense and a whole lot of fun. Liked it more than T3, but I still think Christian Bale sucks eggs.

3. The High and the Mighty (1954, ***1/2): Taut thriller about a prop plane making a flight from Honolulu to San Fran - and losing an engine or two in the process. Features John Wayne in one of his very best performances, as a copilot with a muddled past. Was the inspiration for Airport and, comedically, Airplane!.

4. Paranormal Activity (2009, ***1/2): Absolutely terrifying. Do not watch in the dark. Do not watch alone. Do not watch unless you really love to be scared into a puddle of goo.

5. The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus (2009, ***1/2). This was Heath Ledger's final film (he died during filming), and his is just one of many outstanding performances in the movie, not the least of which is of the cinematography itself. Terry Gilliam's films are always outlandish and highly imaginative, and this one is no exception. Expect bizarreness and revel in some truly unique set designs. Not to be missed. Also stars Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell as versions of Ledger's character.

11 Moon (2009, ***). Strange, but ultimately satisfying sci-fi drama about an astronaut. On the moon.
