Poor Vladimir

Thanks for your sympathy. I feel like I really need it.
Earlier this evening I started bawling because I uncovered my grooming comb, and it still had some long gray hair in it, from the last time Vladimir was groomed. I put the hair in a sealed envelope without the slightest idea why I’m doing it.
I just keep wishing I could have one more day with Vlad the way he used to be. Meowing for his food, shedding all over, curled up in the afghan.

Wow. Poor kitty. Reading this just breaks my heart, and I can't even comprehend how hard it must be for you, Baker.

It still hurts, but I'm not crying now. As I write I have some more popcorn, and I just dropped a piece. Unconsciously I looked down to see if a kitty would come running, but of course he won't
Again, I can't begin to say how much the sympathy of the Minions has helped. Thanks so much.

I don't want to rush you; you need your time of mourning, but for me there's nothing to help make the big kitty-shaped whole in my life go away than rescuing another cat. There are a million of them out there, needing your kind and loving home, and one of them is waiting just for you.

Sparteye I understand. Youre not rushing anything, believe me, and your advice is good. But I still have two other cats, Tobermory and Attila, and they are a comfort. If and when one of them goes(Toby is fourteen and Attila is not quite three), then Ill get another cat. Having two is good, they keep each other company when Im away.
If Vladimir had been an only cat I would have been selecting a new one already. My very first cat, Baby, was put down in 1999, and my sister and her husband and been caring for a stray they kept outdoors, knowing Baby was ill. That stray became Tobermory. He was an adult who had obviously been lost from people somehow, but in spite of everything we couldnt find an owner. For a while I didnt think I could love him the same, but of course now I do.

That's an excellent system, and one I've used for years: primary cat and emergency backup cat.

My emergency backup cat has an emergency backup cat, who in turn has an emergency backup cat.
